Research Interests

In my lab we study the biology of bacteria as they naturally grow in surface-adherent communities (biofilms). These studies are conducted in pure (single-species) and mixed (polymicrobial) cultures. As well we have studied the contributions of bacterial biofilms and bacterial cell surface structures in metal binding and mineral formation. Over the course of my academic career, I have had the privilege of working with many outstanding students and collaborators.
