Dr. David Lemke, Professor in the Biology Department, has been named a Piper Professor for 2022 by the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation. This honor is given annually to only a few faculty members among all the universities and colleges (public and private) in Texas. The award recognizes excellence in teaching and research over a sustained period of time. Dave becomes only the 25th award winner at Texas State University since 1962. He has been employed on the university’s faculty since 1984. Dave teaches various courses in Botany and a very popular course in Photography for Biologists. His research interests are in plant taxonomy, particularly the flora of Texas. Each May, he also organizes and oversees the Christmas Mountains Research Symposium in west Texas. Congratulations to Dave!
